Danni Bradford – Illuminated Glass Art Inspired by Nature and the Sea

Working from her studio by the sea in North Devon, award-winning artist Danni Bradford creates luminous, intricate glass artworks using the traditional technique of Verre Églomisé – the reverse painting and gilding of glass. Her pieces celebrate the beauty of the natural world, drawing inspiration from the flora and fauna of the Devon moors and coastline, the wildlife of the British countryside, and the vibrant marine life of the world’s oceans.

Each piece is meticulously handcrafted on tempered glass, using a unique combination of metal leaf, inks, and mixed media. Her most celebrated work, a striking three-dimensional sardine shoal, is created on double layers of glass, allowing light to pass between them. As the light changes, shadows dance across the mount, and the fish appear to shimmer and move, creating a captivating sense of depth and motion.

Danni’s subject matter ranges from abstract impressions of land and sea to highly detailed studies of marine life – from shimmering shoals of sardines to elegant angelfish, butterflies, and birdlife.
