Big-Eyed Jacks (resting pattern) is an original marine oil painting by Andrew Hasler, inspired by a real-life encounter while diving at a depth of approximately 15 metres. Bathed in restful blue tones, the shoal circles through filtered sunlight in a fluid, almost weightless formation. The composition captures both the quiet stillness of the moment and the collective energy of the fish.

A certified diver since 1997, Andrew draws upon his own underwater encounters, photography and video footage to create marine wildlife paintings that explore light, movement and life beneath the surface. His work has been selected for the Royal Society of Marine Artists Annual Exhibition in 2024, 2025 and 2026.
