Jonathan Daniels

I am a graduate metalsmith, hand raising vessels from sheet Pewter inspired by nature and natural forms. My current work explores the surface pattern and ergonomic feel of the simple beach pebble. I used various colouration techniques, such as; patination, sand blasting and gilding to create contrast between the mottled grey exterior and hidden luminous interior of a vessel. I aim to make pieces that I can be proud of, using the surrounding countryside and beaches that I love for much of my inspiration and continuing to push myself and to develop as a professional artist.

My work ranges from small hand sized pebble shaped pieces to large statement pieces to be used as decorative examples of an age old trade.
